Why you need to detoxify?
We detoxify/cleanse for many reasons, mainly we all want to enjoy a healthy life, boundless energy, peaceful sleep and a sense of serenity. But increasingly the world around us presents us with some real challenges in realising these goals.
Reasons for Cleansing
These challenges include the airborne pollutants that you breathe in such as industrial pollutants from hundreds of different sources, urban ones such as car fumes, social ones such as cigarette smoke, domestic ones such as household and cosmetic chemicals, and can also come as a result of the damaging effects of radiation and electromagnetic fields (even sitting in front of the television can cause problems). The liver is your body's filter, charged with neutralising all sorts of substances from the waste products of everyday metabolism to the ever-increasing load of toxins from our air, water, food, cosmetics and workplace. One of the most serious results of an overstressed or toxic liver is that it becomes bogged down, it can't fully metabolise fat. As a result, it dumps fat and cholesterol back into the bloodstream, sabotaging your weight loss and putting you at risk for numerous health problems, including indigestion, fatigue, high cholesterol, depression, mood swings, lupus, arthritis and other autoimmune conditions. A toxic liver also creates disastrous results for your skin, leaving you with a tendency to blotchy patches and rashes. In this and many other ways the functioning of your liver will affect your emotions, attitude, mood and thinking.

If your are not getting enough fiber, and most of us aren't, especially if you are on a low-carb diet, your colon doesn't have the support it needs to do its job. An overworked colon means that toxins and bile (a crucial substance produced by the liver) can sit in your gut too long. Eventually, your body reabsorbs the toxins and sends them back to the liver once again. So colon cleansing is one of the most important parts of detoxification.
Yet there is some good news. Our body is an incredible feat of biomechanical engineering. All we need to do is give it the tools - and that includes a 'detox' - to repair the damage wreaked by an overload of toxins, and it will put us back onto the path to wellbeing.
